Ryan Jack headlines upbeat Rangers report as delighted Steven Gerrard talks up his team

Steven Gerrard has confirmed Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack is due back on the Auchenhowie training pitch "any day now".

And he's given the midfield man a target of being back in full for the champions before the international break arrives.

The midfielder hasn't played since February and underwent surgery on a continuing calf problem towards the end of the season, with the hope he would be available for the start of the new campaign.

It meant he missed Scotland's Euro 2020 campaign and the whole of the Premiership campaign so far.

However, he now looks to be nearing full fitness while winger Ryan Kent remains on schedule and around three to four weeks away.

He said: "Ryan Jack is due back on the training pitch any day now and hopefully we'll get him back with the group in a couple of weeks.

"Ryan Kent's return will be roughly three to four weeks but that will depend a lot on the rehab process.

"We are always striving to get better to improve, we have a real good group who have settled down after various injuries, etcetera.

"No fresh injuries, and we are now sitting top of the league and in the last four of the cup.

"But I still feel we can improve which is great for me."
