Ryan Jack explains why Rangers and Celtic rivalries don't affect Scotland squad

The acrimony from Liverpool's 3-1 win over Manchester City may have spilled over into the England squad - but Ryan Jack insists there are no such worries for Steve Clarke with Scotland.

Rangers and Celtic are trading blows in a battle for the Premiership with the Hoops topping the league on goal difference with only a single goal between them.

The rivalry is as intense and passionate as anything in world football but the Rangers midfielder sees no reason why it should spill over into international duty akin to what has be befallen Gareth Southgate's men.

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez clashed in training with Raheem Sterling over their teams' Premier League fixture on Sunday.

Gomez trained with a nasty looking scratch to his face while Sterling has been dropped from the Three Lions' match with Montenegro.

Jack, the only Rangers player in Steve Clarke's squad for the final 2020 European Championship qualifying double-header against Cyprus and Kazakhstan, met up with Celtic's James Forrest, Callum McGregor, Greg Taylor and Ryan Christie, as well as the other Scotland players, at their hotel in Edinburgh.

The midfielder said: "It has to be (left at the door).

"There is no doubt that we all fight and battle on the pitch and we all want to win every game but when we turn up, we are team-mates and we train hard together and we play for each other.

"You play against players every week that you join up with on international duty.

"We turn up here, we are a team, we are together and we all want the same goal, which is to win these two games and hopefully get Scotland to a major tournament."

Asked if he had encountered anything similar in the Scotland squad, assistant coach Alex Dyer laughed when he said: "We all love each other. It's lovely here, we don't have any fights among us."
