Ryan Jack back in Scotland squad as Rangers star’s form impresses Steve Clarke

Rangers star Ryan Jack will return to the Scotland squad after his impressive early-season form.

Steve Clarke will on Tuesday name the players for the crucial Euro 2020 double-header against Russia and Belgium.

And Jack is poised to be back after missing out last time. The Rangers midfielder – playing in a more advanced role – has been a key part of Steven Gerrard side’s unbeaten start to the campaign.

Despite facing fierce competition to even get in the Ibrox engine room, the 27-year-old has made nine appearances already, nudging Glen Kamara on to the bench.

And he will be rewarded for his performances with a place in Clarke’s squad.

Leigh Griffiths, however, is not assured of a spot. The Scotland manager will give Celtic a final say on any inclusion.

Clarke wants the striker on board but he will take advice from the Parkhead hierarchy before making the call on whether the 29-year-old is physically and mentally ready to return to the international fold.
