Rangers fans have learned of a Ryan Jack injury set-back after the midfielder failed to make the squad for tonight’s clash in Lyon.
There were real hopes he cold make his first start in nine months in the Groupama Stadium in France with qualification already secured.
But Jack has failed to even make the bench for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men, prompting supporters to worry about the Scotland man.
Speaking to BT Sport, the manager confirmed: “No, Ryan wasn’t available. He was one of the players I had in mind to give minutes.
“But he had a slight setback in his recovery. He played 20, 25 minutes the last game we played so that was good to get him minutes.
“Today he isn’t ready because of a slight injury he had in training.”
The former Aberdeen captain has made three appearances this season and made his emotional comeback on November 7 in the win over Ross County.
He missed the midweek win over Hibs at the start of this month but Van Bronckhorst said: “Ryan was out for a long time and he’s still working up his fitness.”
The fact it is a Europa League dead rubber meant fans were hoping to see Jack given a runout - possibly even from the start.
And earlier fans light blue legions took to social media to express their concerns.
