Ryan Hedges OUT of Aberdeen squad for Qarabag as Jonny Hayes makes flight to Baku

Aberdeen will be without Ryan Hedges for their trip to Baku to face Qarabag, but Jonny Hayes is in the travelling party.

The Dons face a long journey to Azerbaijan for their Europa Conference League play-off first leg as they bid to reach the group stage of the new competition.

Manager Stephen Glass will not be able to call on Hedges for the away match as he did not travel with the squad to Baku.

However, former Celtic man Hayes has flown out to Azerbaijan with the rest of his Aberdeen team-mates.

Both players were doubtful after the Premier Sports Cup loss to Raith Rovers but the Irishman has been deemed fit enough to travel.

Glass explained: "Jonny either got hit or caught his leg as he shot and Ryan clearly has a hamstring issue, hopefully it is not serious but it does not look great when they come off the pitch and you have to play with nine men.

"The lesson from today is when you are on top you have to control the game and see it out.

"But I think the biggest importance is the reaction of the group, if we don’t react we will go to Baku and get turned over there as well."
