Wales boss Ryan Giggs admits he has real concerns over Ethan Ampadu's progress at Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.
Ampadu is currently on loan at the club from Chelsea, and there were high hopes that he would earn the game time needed to further aid his development, with opportunities largely limited at Stamford Bridge.
However, despite several appearances on the bench, the former Exeter City starlet has still not played a single minute for the East German outfit.
To date, his only appearance in senior football has been his run out in Wales' Euro 2020 qualifier with Azerbaijan last month.
Giggs, speaking ahead of his side's crucial clash with Slovakia on Thursday night, admits he is concerned by the youngster's lack of opportunities, and will hold talks with the Bundesliga side about the Chelsea loanee's current situation.
"It's a concern because Ethan is at the age now where he needs to play," he said.
"I'm going to go and see Ethan after this camp because obviously the Red Bull model is an interesting one. But I will have a conversation about his progress.
"He’s had a few problems there injury-wise, nothing serious but little aches and pains.
"The last few camps he’s looked so much better in training. He is such a talent it’s hard to ignore. But it’s very difficult for him to play 90 minutes and back-to-back games, because he’s not had the minutes."
Giggs is yet to speak to Chelsea boss Frank Lampard about the teenager's current situation, but has a good relationship with the former England midfielder on the back of his time at Derby County.
Giggs added: "I had a number of conversations last year with Frank when he was at Derby, because Harry Wilson and Tom Lawrence were there.
"I am in touch with Ethan quite regularly, but I've not felt the need to speak to anyone at Chelsea yet.
"You've seen the likes of Jadon Sancho who have done well abroad so we've seen it work. It's a good thing but they have got to play."
