Ryan Giggs runs out of superlatives for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after Man Utd goal

Ryan Giggs has heaped praise on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after he scored in Arsenal's 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Monday night.

The Gunners were trailing the Red Devils at the break and needed a moment of magic to get back into what was a sloppy match at Old Trafford.

Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka managed to pick out former Dortmund striker Aubameyang who instinctively chipped the ball over David de Gea to level the scores.

There was initial confusion as to whether the striker was offside in the build-up to the goal, with the linesman even raising his flag, but VAR correctly ruled in Arsenal's favour and the effort stood.

Reflecting on the goal, Giggs told Optus Sport: "It's a good pass from the young lad, Saka, right into his path and it's a fantastic finish with his left foot.

"A little dink, that's a goalscorer's finish. He doesn't panic, he's calm and it's against David de Gea who is one of the best shot-stoppers in the world. It was a brilliant finish.

"I've seen David in that position. If it goes low then he's got his feet closed and he's got that reaction and big reach where he does save it. But it's not easy to save that."

Aubameyang spoke to Sky Sports after the match and admitted that while it wasn't a spectacle he was pleased by the spirit of his team-mates.

"To tell the truth was not a good game, but we take the point," said Aubameyang. "Great spirit and I'm sure this team will achieve what we want."
