Ryan Giggs issues positive Aaron Ramsey update amid England v Wales admission as Spurs star may be named captain

Ryan Giggs expects Aaron Ramsey to be available for Wales' Nations League matches against Republic of Ireland and Bulgaria.

The 29-year-old will miss his side's clash with England at Wembley having been placed in Juventus' coronavirus bubble following positive Covid-19 tests at the club last week.

However, Giggs has revealed the former Arsenal man should feature in the competitive double header following the clash with the Three Lions on Thursday night.

"Aaron's just followed protocol that he was told, and we've gone along with that," said the Wales boss.

"We expect him to available for Sunday and Wednesday. We're just finalising when he can come over. It's probably going to be Thursday. Everything is in hand and we're looking forward to him meeting up."

In addition to Ramsey, Wales will also be without Gareth Bale and Joe Allen for the clash with Gareth Southgate's side.

It will be only the second time in 22 matches that Giggs has been without those three for a match, with the only other occasion coming in the friendly win against Trinidad & Tobago in March 2019.

While Giggs is determined to lead his Wales side to a first win against England since 1984, the 46-year-old says his priority in the current camp is the Nations League double header.

"It always captures the imagination, England v Wales, but my priority is the Nations League," said Giggs.

"We have to play this game, and it is a wonderful occasion for the players, and everyone's looking forward to it.

"But obviously a bit of juggling going on, knowing we've got two games after that which are worth six points and are important games to us.

"We want to win the game. We've got great momentum going into the game, and we want to keep that up.

"Also, we realise it's a tough game, England have got some quality players, so we know whatever team they put out, it's going to be a difficult match for us, but we're excited and looking forward to the game."

With Bale and Ashley Williams both left out of the squad, Ben Davies has emerged as the front runner to captain Wales against England.

However, Giggs has revealed he is yet to decide who will wear the armband for the visitors in the English capital.

"I've not decided yet. We've got a few options regarding captaincy, but Ben is definitely one who is in with a shout," he added.

Kick-off at Wembley is at 8pm on Thursday, October 8.
