Ryan Giggs identifies what Manchester United are missing most

Ryan Giggs has praised Manchester United's new transfer policy but believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is lacking a quality creative player in attack.

Giggs says he's been impressed by United's three summer signings, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Daniel James, but added that the club need "five or six" more players of their ilk.

The United great was speaking in an interview with the United Stand in which he backed Solskjaer and paid tribute to the Norwegian who, Giggs says, hasn't been backed with the same funds as some of his predecessors.

“We need to bring quality in," Giggs said when asked what United need in the transfer window.

“Ole has brought three in who are all doing well. His dealings have been very good so far.

“Give him the money other managers have had to get Man United players.

“Get another five or six players like that in, we will see a real difference."

Until Sunday's 3-1 victory at Norwich, United hadn't scored more than one goal in a game since the opening day of the season when they surprisingly beat Chelsea 4-0.

And Giggs admits that there is a chasm when it comes to creativity, which has been exacerbated of late with Paul Pogba's injury-enforced absence.

“They are missing that creative player," added Giggs. "It is no coincidence, the best performances have been against good teams. The lesser teams are always harder to break down.

“We are probably just a bit shy of them creative players and I think Ole recognises that.”
