Ryan Giggs admits Daniel James 'frustration' at Manchester United

Ryan Giggs expects Daniel James to be 'frustrated' by his lack of playing time for Manchester United so far this season.

The Welsh winger enjoyed an encouraging breakthrough season at Old Trafford during the last campaign, but has struggled for any significant playing time this time around.

James, 23, has made just 10 appearances across all competitions in the first-half of the season, last featuring in the FA Cup win over Watford earlier in the month.

It's been a difficult second season for James at United with his playing time significantly reduced - although he could yet have a major role to play amid the packed fixture schedule which lies ahead.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made it clear he has no intentions of loaning James out this month despite continued interest from Leeds United and Giggs believes the forward needs to take any chance which might come his way.

“We are in unknown territory,” the Wales manager told Stadium Astro. “Where you don’t have a lot of time. A lot of games squeezed into a short space of time.

“So, I think Ole would take the safe option and keep as many quality players in the club as he can.

“Yes, it would be frustrating. I know that Dan is frustrated. Just like any other player who isn’t getting regular football.

"But when you are at a big club like United when you get the chance take it.”
