Ryan Fraser passes late fitness test as Steve Bruce keeps the faith

Newcastle United made just one change to the side that beat Everton with Ciaran Clark replacing hamstring victim Jamaal Lascelles at St James' Park.

The Magpies were also able to rely on Ryan Fraser who shook off a bout of sickness to start against Roy Hodgson's Eagles.

But Steve Bruce kept faith with the majority of the side that beat the Toffees as Newcastle looked to seal a Premier League double over Crystal Palace.

It meant that Miguel Almiron played in his preferred position higher up the field and Callum Wilson had support around him.

United had only won once with a five-man defence this season in the Premier League with the 4-3-2-1 system working a treat on Saturday on Merseyside.

UNITED : Darlow, Manquillo, Schar, Clark, Lewis, Hayden, Hendrick, Shelvey, Fraser, Almiron, Wilson

Subs : Dubravka, Dummett, Krafth, M Longstaff, Anderson, Saint-Maximin, Carroll, Joelinton, Gayle
