Ryan Fraser has moved a step closer to a transfer after declining a short-term contract extension at Bournemouth.
The Scotland international has been linked with a move to North London as his contract runs out this summer, with both Arsenal and Tottenham reportedly interested.
The Cherries had hoped to secure Fraser for the remainder of the season, with the Premier League resuming its 2019/20 campaign this week and set to run until the end of July.
The club though have now confirmed Fraser has declined a contract extension, which will enable him to leave the club as a free agent before the end of the current campaign.
The news came as part of announcement by Bournemouth revealing that Simon Francis, Andrew Surman, Artur Boruc and Charlie Daniels had agreed short-term extensions to cover the remaining nine games of the season.
Fraser’s decision will come as a big blow to Eddie Howe’s side, who sit in the Premier League’s relegation zone ahead of the top flight’s return this week.
The 26-year-old has made 34 appearance in all competitions so far this season, scoring just one goal in the process, but has proven to be a vital member of Bournemouth’s squad over the years.
He’ll now be free to leave the club when his contract runs out at the end of this month, with North London seemingly his most likely destination.
Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for the winger, having also shown an interest during last summer’s window.
Tottenham Hotspur are also reported to be interested though, meaning the North London rivals could battle it out for his signature.
