Ryan Fraser declines Bournemouth short-term contract extension

Ryan Fraser has rejected a short-term extension at Bournemouth and will leave the club after his current contract expires on 30 June.

The Scotland international, who joined Bournemouth from Aberdeen in 2013, has stalled on talks over a new deal throughout the season and is unwilling to risk suffering an injury that could jeopardise a potentially career-defining summer move.

In January, the 26-year-old admitted he “didn’t play for the team” in the first four months of the season after being distracted by speculation over his future.

Fraser has been linked with both Arsenal and Tottenham in previous windows, with both clubs looking towards the free agent market due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

However, the club have confirmed that Simon Francis, Andrew Surman, Artur Boruc and Charlie Daniels have all signed short-term contract deals to cover the remaining nine games of the 2019/20 season.

Bournemouth, currently sitting in 18th place in the Premier League, resume their campaign against Crystal Palace on Saturday, with Fraser now unlikely to feature.
