Ryan Fraser Bournemouth rejection confirmed as Scotland international sits out Premier League restart

Scotland international Ryan Fraser 's refused to extend his contract at Bournemouth has been confirmed as he sits out 'Project Restart'.

The Premier League returns on Wednesday with Aston Villa vs Sheffield United and Manchester City vs Arsenal.

Things get in to full swing at the weekend, with the aim of completing the season by the end of July.

That has presented a problem for clubs, with contracts usually running until June 30.

Fraser's current deal expires at the end of the month, and Bournemouth have confirmed he has declined the offer of an extension that would allow him to see out the season.

Former Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc has signed on, but Fraser will only be under contract for the next two games against Crystal Palace and Wolves.

It would therefore seem doubtful that manager Eddie Howe will look to use the winger.

A statement said: "Simon Francis, Andrew Surman, Artur Boruc and Charlie Daniels have agreed short-term contract extensions to cover the remaining nine games of the 2019/20 season.

"The quartet will prove a boost to Eddie Howe and his squad as the Cherries prepare for the return of the Premier League later this week.

"Francis, who is club captain, has played the most prominent role this season with 18 appearances in all competitions, whilst vice-captain Surman has featured on nine occasions.

"Goalkeeper Boruc has been named on the bench 29 times this season, while full-back Daniels is continuing his recovery from a long-term knee injury.

"Winger Ryan Fraser has declined to sign a short-term contract extension."

Fraser has been linked with the likes of Arsenal in the past and will be free to move from the end of June.
