Ryan Fraser back in contention for Newcastle United despite pulling out of Scotland squad

Ryan Fraser is seemingly back in the frame for Newcastle United's Premier League clash at home to Brentford.

The Scotland international, who pulled out of his country's squad for wins over Moldova and Denmark, was pictured in full flow in training at Benton ahead of the weekend encounter with the Bees.

Fraser withdrew after picking up a calf injury during the warm down after the 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 27-year-old did not feature against the Seagulls but warmed down with the substitutes at the Amex Stadium.

Scotland boss Steve Clarke was asked about Fraser during the international break and said: "The best way to answer that one is to say I have a squad of players who want to be here.

"They’re all here so let’s talk about those boys.

"The situation with Ryan will resolve itself in time. Listen, it is what it is.

"This is not the time to talk about somebody who is not in the squad.

"We have built a really strong squad."

A smiling Fraser was pictured in a training game as Eddie Howe's Toon revolution continued on Tyneside.

Scotland can now look forward to the World Cup play-off draw later this month.
