Ryan Fraser and Jamal Lewis sing Peter Andre and Drake as they are initiated into the NUFC squad

Ryan Fraser and Jamal Lewis were officially initiated into the Newcastle United squad ahead of the opening game of the Premier League by taking part in the customary singing challenge.

Every new player has to sing a song in front of their teammates, with Mark Gillespie earlier gaining plaudits for his version of Ronan Keaton's Life is Rollercoaster.

This time it was the turn of Fraser and Lewis, and thanks to Sean Longstaff, the footage has made into the public domain.

Fraser chose to go with Peter Andre's 1996 hit 'Mysterious Girl', while Lewis chose to go a little more up-date with a confident version of Drake's Hotlingbling.

Using their phones to read the words, Fraser seemed right at home belting out Andre's song which reached no.2 in the UK Charts, while Lewis did stumble over the first verse of Drake's smash hit.

Longstaff, who put the footage on his Instagram was in stitches with Fraser's rendition.

It took place at the club's hotel down in the capital.

The biggest question of the initiation service is just what did Callum Wilson sing? We wait to find out.
