Ryan Fitzpatrick with Dolphins could mean QB falls to Redskins in draft

The path in front of the Washington Redskins appears to keep clearing.

While the Redskins aren’t a lock to take a first-round quarterback this year by any means, the odds seem to keep going up as teams in front of the Redskins keep adding quarterbacks.

The latest is the Miami Dolphins, which decided to bring aboard Ryan Fitzpatrick after trading away Ryan Tannehill. Those Dolphins, of course, happen to hold the 13th pick in the draft.

Fitzpatrick in Miami doesn’t guarantee the Dolphins won’t take a quarterback, but conventional wisdom suggests the tank for 2020 is on.

Similar story for Denver, which traded for Joe Flacco. The Jacksonville Jaguars, another team in front of the Redskins on draft day, just paid Nick Foles a contract that could be worth as much as $102 million.

As it stands, the New York Giants appear to be the only massive threat to the Redskins when it comes to the quarterback race, though given their questionable decisions lately, they might just roll with Eli Manning again.

If a Kyler Murray or Dwayne Haskins falls due to these reasons, one has to think the Redskins would jump at the chance to avoid a competition between Case Keenum and Colt McCoy.
