Ryan Fitzpatrick debuts new look at practice, sets internet ablaze

Ryan Fitzpatrick may no longer be the Miami Dolphins’ starting quarterback, but that doesn’t mean that you’ll see him fade off in the the background without any fun along the way. Fitzpatrick has been widely applauded by the Dolphins’ coaching staff and players for his ability to energize his teammates — and on Wednesday the man known as Fitzpatrick took his “good teammate” status to new heights with his homage to former Dolphins WR Isaiah Ford, who was traded ahead of Tuesday’s deadline to the New England Patriots in a rare-interdivisional trade.

How? By rocking his shorts in the same style that Ford has worn his: very short. Very, very short.

Between Fitzpatrick’s short shorts, which went viral, and a trimmed beard, there was plenty of amusement circling on social media about Fitzpatrick’s new look on Wednesday afternoon. And thanks to Dolphins LB Jerome Baker, we know why Fitzpatrick debuted such a drastic new look.

“(Fitzpatrick’s) shorts, that was my boy Isaiah (Ford),” said Baker. “It’s a part of the business, but we’re definitely going to miss him.”

Time will tell if Fitzpatrick plans on being the team’s resident short shorts wearer for the rest of the season, but for at least one day there was a fun twist and subplot to Miami’s practice as the continue their preparations to face off with the Arizona Cardinals this weekend for the team’s Week 9 contest.
