Leeds United striker Ryan Edmondson has spoken about what it meant to him to train at the same complex as Harry Kane in recent days.
The 18-year-old scored on his Under-19s debut for the Young Lions, as they completed a 3-1 victory over Greece in a friendly at St. George’s Park.
He scored 20 goals for the U23s last season as they won PDL-National title, and his career trajectory only appears on the up with a first international call-up.
"Even seeing the shirt hanging up in the dressing room was something else,” he told Leeds United’s official website.
“Seeing the number 9 on the back of an England shirt, and knowing that I was going to be putting it on, was just an unbelievable feeling.
“Then to walk out as an England player is something I've just always dreamed of."
Players to have worn the number nine shirt for the Three Lions include legendary names like Nat Lofthouse, Sir Bobby Charlton, Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and most recently Kane.
The Tottenham striker scored a hat-trick at Wembley against Bulgaria on the weekend, and has been training at the same complex as the Young Lions over the past few days.
Gareth Southgate and several of the senior England players, including Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, Harry Maguire, James Maddison were pictured watching on as the Under-19s recorded the victory .
'I just looked over and saw them, it was a bit of a shock'
“I think back to the 2018 World Cup with Harry Kane wearing it,” he added.
“Even now seeing him walking around the St George's complex, is absolutely unbelievable to me, so to be able to wear that shirt, and to score in it, it's all just incredibly surreal."
"I wasn't aware to start with, but then once we settled into the game, I just looked over and saw them, it was a bit of a shock.
“I wasn't really expecting that, but again, to be able to play in front of Gareth and the lads is something that will always stay with me."
