Leeds United will be down in attack for the near-future after the club confirmed that Ryan Edmondson faces a lengthy spell out after he underwent knee surgery on Monday.
The striker is expected to be sidelined for up to twelve weeks following the operation on an injury that he sustained in training last week.
Edmondson, one of the key performers for Carlos Corberan's under-23 side, has made two senior appearances for the Whites since his arrival in York City in 2017.
The 18-year-old, who signed from the Minstermen on a scholarship contract, was handed a fresh three-year deal in 2018 and has often been touted as a future star with his impressive performances at youth level.

Last term, he helped the under-23s to the Professional Development League title and has remained an impressive performer in attack this season.
Edmondson suffered a previous injury in late 2018 that left him out of action for a sustained period, but he looks set to be watching from the stands for a few months this time around.
The teenager took to social media on Monday evening to offer an update on his successful surgery, writing: "Operation done.
Operation done thank you to all the staff @BMIHealthcare time to recover and get back on the pitch

"Thank you to all the staff [at BMI Healthcare]. Time to recover and get back on the pitch."
Leeds are currently nursing only a handful of senior injury worries, with Adam Forshaw their longest first team absentee.
Earlier this week, Corberan allayed fears that new signing Jean-Kevin Augustin had suffered a knock after he played only the first half of the under-23s' clash with Sheffield Wednesday on MOnday.
