Ohio State head football coach Ryan Day is off to a pretty incredible start to his coaching career. I’ve always contended, you never want to be the guy who follows a legend, but so far Day is doing just fine and making a name for himself. Heck, maybe he’s on his way to legend status. Who knows?
It seems when a young up and coming coach starts to make a splash in the college ranks, the NFL execs start sniffing around. We’ve seen it time and time again, most recently when Matt Rhule was lured away from Waco and the Baylor Bears for the greener pastures of the Carolina Panthers.
Most of the time, it doesn’t work out so well for the college guys. The list of coaches who tried and failed is a mile long and includes names like Steve Spurrier, Bobby Petrino, and even Nick Saban. And yet, the intrigue of being one of only 32 is hard to pass up for many.
Day, who has coaching experience in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers as a quarterbacks coach, was asked about coaching in the NFL while appearing with the media this week ahead of the Indiana game.
“I believe this is the best place in America, the best job in America,” Day told reporters.”

It’s the last part we love to see as Buckeye fans and I think most would agree. Of course, it’s a matter of opinion, but it certainly looks like a pretty good gig and from the sounds of things, Ryan Day is planning on staying a while.
