Ryan Day provides insight on name, image and likeness

The name, image, and likeness (NIL) rule is now in effect and we have already seen multiple current Ohio State Buckeyes benefit from the new rule, whether it be through merchandise or through public autograph signings.

Despite popular belief, the new integration of  NIL isn’t going to make all college athletes rich and it won’t even make every Buckeye rich, but to better spread the wealth, Ohio State head coach, Ryan Day had a unique take that he brought up during Big Ten media days.

“So the opportunity for our guys is going to be unlike anywhere else in the country,” said Day. “However, how do we find ways to make sure we disseminate that throughout the team, because there’s a lot of guys out there who are also playing football. There’s guys who are blocking for the quarterback, there’s guys who are covering the wide receivers. And while it’s tricky and I don’t really have quite the answer, I know that there’s got to be some sort of formula down the road that we can consider.”

He brings up a unique perspective because in the world of collegiate athletics, this rule will most benefit the boys racking up the stats. Finding a formula to help out the big men in the trenches would be ideal.
