Ryan Day makes encouraging Juneteenth statement

Today, June 19, is known as Juneteenth — a holiday celebrating the liberation of slavery in the United States. It originated in Texas, but is now recognized nationally. It is an extremely relevant observation during the social justice season we are in because of the tragic killing of George Floyd and other Blacks while in police custody, among other things.

Hopefully, you are proud to have a head coach for the Ohio State football program that embraces these social causes, most notably the movement that is taking place today.

Ryan Day backed that up with a statement on Twitter Friday that recognizes the holiday and encourages the ongoing support from student-athletes and all those that have a voice in his program, including himself.

Here is what he shared on Twitter Friday morning.

Say what you will about those in high profile positions being disconnected from the real world, but that is clearly not Day.
