Ryan Christie sends Celtic fans a message with first image since facial surgery

Ryan Christie has posted an Easter social media message days after surgery on his horror injury.

The Celtic star is out for the rest of the season after suffering "multiple facial fractures" when Dom Ball collided with him during the Scottish Cup semi final against Aberdeen.

The 24-year-old was stretchered off at Hampden last weekend but bravely shared a photo in the aftermath to show the damage he had suffered.

And Christie has now updated his followers again with another post which reveals the bruising and swelling surrounding one side of his face after his op.

It's a sad end to the season for a player who has become a vital player for Celtic after making his big breakthrough under former boss Brendan Rodgers.

The attacking midfielder has added an energy to his team and has netted 11 goals in 40 appearances this season.

Team-mate Kris Ajer, who suffered his own horror facial injury against Livingston, is backing his pal to rebound in style.

Scott Bain insists Celtic aren't jittery as he reveals secret to incredible clean sheet record

Ajer said: "I went to visit him in hospital the other night with his missus.

“He’s had the surgery and from what I can gather it has been a success, which is great news. I know how painful an injury it is but hopefully he’ll be back as soon as possible.”
