Ryan Christie seals Celtic exit for £1.5m as Scotland star bets on himself with Bournemouth transfer

Scotland international Ryan Christie has joined Bournemouth in a cut price deal with just six months left on his Celtic contract.

The 26-year-old has started the season well under Ange Postecoglou but he is now heading to the English Championship despite Premier League interest from Burnley.

Christie has long held a desire of testing himself south of the border and he is now betting on himself to turn heads with the Cherries and secure a return to English football's top flight.

The player put the finishing touches on the £1.5m move while on international duty with Scotland ahead of the crunch clash with Denmark

Scott Parker has earned a reputation for developing attacking talent and the former Parkhead star will be vital for a side who missed out promotion through the playoffs last season.

Christie was much maligned last season but he has been a first team regular since finally breaking through under Brendan Rodgers in 2018 after a stunning goal against Hearts changed his Celtic story.

The attacking midfielder scored 41 goals in 150 games in all competitions as he was a key player under three consecutive managers.

His absence will be mitigated by the arrival of Benfica winger Jota - with the 22-year-old looking to impress at Parkhead during his loan which includes an option to buy.
