Ryan Christie blow for Celtic as star 'rushed to hospital' after Alfredo Morelos tussle

Ryan Christie was "rushed to hospital" following Celtic's defeat to Rangers, according to a report.

The Hoops star is said to have required urgent groin surgery in the aftermath of his side's 2-1 Parkhead defeat on Sunday.

Christie had a penalty saved by Allan McGregor with the match goalless and was subbed late on having attempted to play through the pain.

According to The Daily Mail, Christie sustained the injury as he tangled with Rangers' Alfredo Morelos during the second half.

The 24-year-old escaped a second booking for an attempted grab at Morelos' groin after being nutmegged by the striker, but may now have suffered an even heavier blow.

The report states it's unclear how long Christie will be sidelined as Celtic prepare for their winter training camp in Dubai.

Neil Lennon's side are not back in action until January 18 with Scottish football shutting down for three weeks.

They're set to face Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup upon their return from the Gulf, following by three Premiership fixtures in seven days against Kilmarnock, Ross County and St Johnstone.
