WASHINGTON _ House Speaker Paul D. Ryan announced he raised $15.4 million in the third quarter of 2016, tallying up $48.2 million for the year.
He also announced he had transferred more than $31 million to the National Republican Congressional Committee.
By comparison, by the same time in 2012, former House Speaker John Boehner had raised only $4 million.
"His ability to talk about conservative principles and how they apply to the problems of the day has been incredibly motivating to individuals who care about the Republican Party," said Kevin Seifert, executive director of Team Ryan.
Since video was released of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump suggesting making unwanted sexual advances, Ryan has indicated he will no longer defend Trump or campaign with him.
Rather, Ryan has said members should deal with Trump in the way that is best for their particular district.
