Ryan Anderson cleaned up his off-field prep to get serious for 2019

Washington Redskins linebacker Ryan Anderson has been one of the best interviews of the offseason so far.

Anderson, after calling 2019 a do-or-die situation, just revealed some of the changes he’s made to get serious about the effort.

According to the Washington Post’s Kareem Copeland, Anderson has made adjustments to his diet on top of everything else:

“I feel like I’m a lot more mature and taking care of my business. I’m not a guy that doesn’t realize what’s going on. I realize what’s going on. I realized I hadn’t been where I needed to be. My weight and my body, I realized I wasn’t taking it serious. Now, I’m [going to] do everything I’ve got to do and we’ll see when I start playing. We’ll get the results.”

This seems to align well enough with Anderson’s status as a third-year pro, which is where things tend to naturally hit their peak for players. Anderson seems to have made what he sees as the necessary adjustments in an effort to have an even bigger impact on the field.

Anderson might not have a choice either after the Redskins lost some pass-rushing talent to free agency. The former Alabama star hasn’t flourished just yet, though it isn’t hard to see a breakout coming based on what he’s shown so far.

Getting serious, as Anderson put it, is one way to encourage a breakout.
