Ruud van Nistelrooy drops Jarrad Branthwaite transfer hint amid Everton exit rumours

Rudd van Nistelrooy is grateful to have Jarrad Branthwaite at PSV Eindhoven this season, so much so that he'd like to keep the Everton defender a while longer.

The 20-year-old has spent the season on loan in the Dutch Eredivisie and has made 20 appearances for Eindhoven, finding the net three times. Branthwaite's loan deal runs until the end of the season, while his contract at Goodison Park runs until 2025, but PSV boss Van Nistelrooy is clear on how he would like to see the situation develop.

Speaking to ESPN on Wednesday, after PSV's 3-1 KNVB Beker cup victory against FC Emmen, Van Nistelrooy said: “We would like [to keep him beyond this season]. He is a great talent. The boy is 20, but he has a future. He is good on the ball, can play on the left or the right of centre-back because he is two-footed. He has height and speed, so he is very complete.”

The former Manchester United striker's desire to keep hold of Branthwaite comes amid rumours that the defender is attracting some interest from some of Everton's Premier League rivals. The Daily Mail has reported that Branthwaite is set to be watched by representatives from Manchester United next week along with a host of other big clubs.

Liverpool are also said to be monitoring his situation. Branthwaite joined Everton from Carlisle United in 2020 and has made 13 appearances for the Blues, scoring once against Chelsea.
