Ruthless husband stabbed wife repeatedly and left her dying in street

A man has admitted stabbing his wife multiple times and leaving her to die in the street.

Geetika Goyal, 29, was found dead on a pavement with stab wounds to her neck, chest and arm in Rowlatts Hill, Leicester.

Kashish Aggarwal was arrested shortly after the fatal stabbing in the early hours of March 4 this year.

The horrendous attack happened near the couple's home, Leicestershire Live reports.

A court hearing was held on Friday and Aggarwal changed his plea to guilty but very few details about the incident emerged during the short appearance at Leicester Crown Court.

But in an update released by Leicestershire Police it was revealed that the couple were married and that Mrs Goyal had been stabbed multiple times.

It also emerged that Mrs Goyal had been reported missing by her brother less than six hours before a member of the public found her lying dead on the pavement.

The police statement said: "Following concern raised by Aggarwal, Mrs Goyal’s brother had reported his sister missing to police just before 9pm on March 3. Police attended the home and enquiries were carried out.

"At 2.25am the following morning, police received a call from a member of the public reporting that a woman was lying on the pavement in Uppingham Close.

"Police attended where Mrs Goyal was found with multiple stab wounds to her neck, shoulder, chest and arm. East Midlands Ambulance Service were also in attendance and Mrs Goyal was sadly pronounced dead at the scene."

Having pleaded guilty to murder, Aggarwal has been remanded into custody and is due to be sentenced on October 18.

Detective Inspector Jenni Heggs, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, is the Senior Investigating Officer in the case.

She said: “My thoughts are with Geetika Goyal and her family. Today’s plea will sadly not bring Geetika back but I do hope it helps Geetika’s family in some small way to see that justice is being done.

“We now continue to support the family as we prepare for the sentence hearing.”
