Rutherglen train station stabbing leaves teenage boy in critical condition

A teenage boy is in a critical condition in hospital after a stabbing at Rutherglen Train Station.

British Transport Police tweeted to confirm they were attending following the incident at 5pm.

They tweeted: "We’re at Rutherglen station, Glasgow, following a stabbing. A teenage boy suffered several wounds and is in hospital in a critical condition."

Trains are not stopping at the station while investigations take place.

Scotrail tweeted to say: "Unfortunately, we’ve an ongoing incident at Rutherglen and emergency services are on site.

"Due to this incident, services are unable to call at Rutherglen.

"We’re working closely with emergency services and will update you once we receive more information."

Ruthglen MSP Clare Haughey appealed for anyone with information to get in touch with British Transport Police.

She tweeted: "Incredibly worrying news this evening from Rutherglen Train Station. I sincerely hope the young man can make a full recovery."
