A section of a Rutherglen road will be closed this week to allow resurfacing work.
The roadworks on Mill Street are part of a programme of improvements on the busy road and will close the northbound carriageway (traffic heading in the direction of Glasgow city centre) between Bankhead Road and Burnhill Street.
The council’s head of roads, Colin Park, told Lanarkshire Live: “Local road users and commuters using this route will definitely notice a benefit from this improvement work.
“We know how busy this road can be so scheduling this closure during the quieter summer period when traffic volumes are lower will help us reduce the unavoidable disruption.
“A number of alterative routes are available and I would ask all road users to take extra time on unfamiliar roads, be patient and show consideration to local residents.”
In April the council announced they would spend £10 million on improving roads in South Lanarkshire.
