Joe Pryce wants to help Rutherglen Glencairn win their first West of Scotland League Cup – so toppling Finnart on tonight is their top priority.
Although Glens beat their West of Scotland Division Four opponents 5-0 in the Strathclyde Demolition Cup back in August, assistant manager Pryce expects a tough clash.
Pryce said: “It’s a cup we’ve never won, so we would like to be the first Glens team to win it.
“The league is always our priority, but we’ll give it our best shot.
“We played Finnart earlier in the season and managed to win the game quite comfortably, we ended up running out 5-0 winners, and I would expect a similar performance.
“They’ll come here, they’ll be stuffy, and it will be up to us to show why we’re a Premier League team, and show a wee bit of quality to see if we can get past them.
“It will be a tough game, playing under the lights always gives everybody a boost, and it’s a game we’re looking forward to.”
Pryce says the right call was made to call off their Premier League match at Cumbernauld United in horrendous conditions, even 15 minutes before kick-off.
He said: “Our game on Saturday was called off late on, 15 minutes before kick-off, so that was disappointing, but there was one part of the park that was particularly bad.
“It was probably the right decision in the end. Player safety is all-important.”
Kick-off at the Hamish B Allan Stadium is 7.30pm.
