Rutherglen Glencairn players will defer their wages until fans are allowed back into stadiums.
Clubs across the country face financial concerns with leagues starting up without any supporters in the stands.
However, boss Willie Harvey has revealed that the Glens stars have said they won’t take a salary until the punters return to the Hamish B Allan Stadium to help the club survive.
Harvey said: “To me it was a no-brainer to get playing and I would have said the same if I was a player.
“I would have just wanted to get back playing football.
“We took it to our players about what to do next and they said they wanted to play. They said when the crowds come in that’s when they will start taking their wages again.
“That says a lot about the players to me. That shows we have the right people with the right attitude at this club.
“It’s an absolutely tremendous gesture from the boys.”
As they gear up for the October 24 kick-off, the Glens slumped to a narrow defeat to Wishaw in their first defeat of pre-season.
Harvey added: “It’s disappointing to lose a game but it’s one of those games where we had so many chances it was unbelievable.
“I’ve got three players self-isolating at the moment and another away on holiday with another couple of injuries.”
