Rutherglen Glencairn have CCTV installed in bid catch vandals who are blighting the club

Glencairn’s new sponsor has installed CCTV cameras at the Celsius stadium in a bid to catch vandals who are repeatedly targeting the West of Scotland League club.

The Rutherglen outfit have been left fuming after a number of break-ins and vandalism – including damage to the dugouts – at the ground in recent months.

The Glens have been left to count the cost of hundreds of pounds worth of damage during the pandemic which has crippled the club’s income.

However, new sponsor Dylton’s Locksmith and Security have provided the club with a CCTV system.

Delighted boss Willie Harvey hopes this will put an end to unsavoury incidents at the ground.

He said: “We knew that we had to do something but it’s expensive to get cameras put in.

“We are really thankful that Dylton’s have helped us out in exchange for coming on as a sponsor.

“It helps save us a few quid when we have no income at the club.

“We are trying to do things that will benefit the whole community, but we haven’t got a lot of money at the moment.

“Finances are tight but knowing that if this happens again we will hopefully be able to catch the people doing it is really important.

“The support from the community has been brilliant while we haven’t been playing, and this is just another big lift for us.

“We’ve got to say a huge thanks to Dylton’s Security.”
