Rutherglen author Irene Lebeter has successful book launch

Around 30 avid readers turned out at Rutherglen Library recently for the launch of a local author’s latest book.

Irene Lebeter was signing copies of ‘Who Were You?’ – her fourth novel – and it proved a hit with the audience.

The romance, set in New Zealand, is the latest novel Rutherglen writer Irene has had published by Authorway in the past six years.

‘Who Were You?’ tells the story of a young journalist who is piecing together the life of her grandmother, with a throw-back to Dundee in the 1950s and ‘60s.

The work of fiction was launched just weeks before Irene’s 78th birthday.

And the delighted author said: “My book was very well received at the signing session and I did some readings from it to give the audience a flavour of the characters.

“Two of my writing colleagues joined me – Pat Feehan, who introduced me, and Patricia Hutchinson, who gave a vote of thanks to the library staff after my talk.”

Thanking the library team for hosting the event, Irene added: “Julie Smith and her staff did an excellent job of setting out the chairs and laying on tea, coffee and biscuits.”

As well as buying from Amazon, the book – which is also available in paperback and kindle format – can be purchased directly from Irene by calling her on 0141 647 8635.
