Rutherglen attack: Man in critical condition in hospital after early evening incident

A 20-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after being seriously injured in Rutherglen.

The incident happened in broad daylight, around 4pm this afternoon, on Woodend Road.

The victim was rushed to hospital and is in a critical condition this evening.

Local reports suggest the man was allegedly 'stabbed'.

Police confirmed a man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “At about 4.05pm, we were called to reports of a 20-year-old man seriously injured on Woodend Road, Rutherglen.

“Emergency services attended and a male was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where staff describe his condition as critical.

“A man has been arrested in connection with the incident and inquiries are ongoing.”
