The Scottish SPCA is appealing to animal lovers in Lanarkshire to donate washing powder along with food for the rabbits and Guinea pigs in the care of their Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre based in Hamilton.
Items can be purchased from the centre’s Amazon wishlist or via any other online retailer offering direct delivery to the centre.
Centre manager Gillian Boyle explained: “We are currently caring for a number of rabbits and Guinea pigs at the moment so we have a lot of hungry mouths to feed.
“We use Burgess nuggets to feed these animals rather than muesli, so we would ask that only the nugget-type food is donated.”
Explaining the call for washing powder, Gillian added: “It may not seem like the most obvious item that a rehoming centre would need, but washing powder is actually vital to the everyday running of
the centre.
“We do constant loads of washing on a daily basis and washing powder is essential to make sure that animals like David the lurcher have clean bedding to keep them comfy and cosy while they wait for their forever home.
“If anyone can help with any items for the animals we would appreciate anything that people can spare.”
Items can be dropped in to the Scottish SPCA Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre, Bothwell Road, Hamilton, ML3 0SB if members of the public live within the local authority area.
