Ruth Langsford works up a sweat as she takes up skipping to keep fit

This Morning's Ruth Langsford is putting in the time to keep fit.

The presenter is having a crack at the Isolation Skipping Challenge, trying to break her record with each video she posts.

Her latest attempt is also her best, at 45 skips.

On day one of the challenge, she wrote: "So...inspired by my previous post with @fitwithfrank (filmed in 2017 by the way for those asking!) I'm going to try skipping again!

"Loved it as a kid...bit harder when you're 60!

"Only managed about 20 skips before I got tangled! If at first you don't succeed...#isolationexercises #skipping."

Sharing a snap of her skipping rope, which counts the number completed, after she'd smashed her record, Ruth told: "Counter agrees...it was 45...onwards and upwards! #isolationskippingchallenge."

This Morning was recently forced to confirm that Ruth and husband Eamonn Holmes weren't breaking social distancing rules.

Presenting the show as usual on Friday, the husband and wife team were hit with complaints that they weren't keeping their distance amid the coronavirus outbreak.

After complaints came in, a banner was displayed across the bottom of the screen, reading: "Following government guidelines, Eamonn & Ruth can sit together - as members of the one household."

Ruth recently shared her daily routine of visiting mum Joan, waving to her through the window.

"So I've just walked round to see my mum," Ruth told followers, "When I say 'see her', I mean wave at her through the window, which is better than nothing."

She added: "She's fine...Hope you're all staying in and staying safe. See you soon!"
