Ruth Langsford tells Phillip Schofield ‘don't be such a cynic’ as he makes sarcastic dig

Ruth Langsford called out Phillip Schofield for being a "cynic" before hosting Loose Women on Tuesday.

Phillip, 59, was speaking to Ruth in the crossover link between This Morning and Loose Women, when he made a rather sarcastic comment.

As Phillip and his co-host Holly Willoughby asked Ruth what was coming up on Tuesday's Loose Women, the 61-year-old could be seen attempting to fit a shelf onto a wall in the studio.

Wearing a bright yellow hard hat as she pretended to hammer nails into the wall, Ruth revealed that they would be discussing women being good at DIY around the home.

But Phillip couldn't resist making a cheeky joke as he said: "Yeah you just carry on there Ruth, hammering with no nails or anything…"

However, it didn't go unnoticed by Ruth as she fired back: "Phillip! What a cynic. Don't be such a cynic!" as the pair both laughed before she held the shelf up against the wall, and said: "There, it's up now."

It's been no secret that Phillip and Ruth have had somewhat of a frosty relationship in the past and their alleged feud hit headlines last year.

It all kicked off after Ruth allegedly lodged an official complaint against Phil back in April last year, because he interrupted her live on-air during a crossover.

The clip in question showed the presenters clash after Phil cut a Loose Women segment short, with Ruth slamming her pen down in fury.

She was left furious after the on-air spat, and went on to file an official complaint to ITV’s embattled new head of daytime TV over Phillip’s conduct.

A source told The Sun at the time: "Ruth and Eamonn both appear to be treated harshly by Phillip. After Phillip literally cut her off in the middle of a sentence on air when she was hosting Loose Women she decided enough was enough. Yet again nothing changed.”

Frostiness between the pair didn't go unnoticed at the NTAs in January 2020 as viewers picked up on the simmering 'awkward tension' (ITV)

Frostiness between the pair didn't go unnoticed at the NTAs in January 2020 as eagle-eyed viewers picked up on the simmering "awkward tension".

The presenters didn't look at each other as they made their way up to collect the award for Live Magazine show.

NTAs viewers noticed Phillip make a point of giving Ruth time to say some words, but she did not reciprocate his thoughts.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
