Ruth Langsford swerves This Morning axe in defiant Loose Women return

Ruth Langsford ignored the This Morning chop when she returned to Loose Women.

Shockwaves were sent through the showbiz circuit when she and Eamonn Holmes were dropped from This Morning's Friday slot after 14 years.

Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary will step into their shoes while Ruth and Eamonn will only cover Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield's six-week break in the summer.

Fans threw their support behind Ruth as she returned to Loose Women for the first time since the news.

Leading the troops, one wrote: "At least @RuthieeL still has #LooseWomen - unless ITV axe her and she gets replaced with Josie Gibson! ThisMorning."

"Ruth Langsford is quite fit #LooseWomen."

" @RuthieeL love your top (dress?) on Loose Women today. Where's it from please?"

During the episode, Ruth gushed over her husband Eamonn who she still gets the "flutters" for.

Ruth said: "I love it when he wears his glasses and looking intelligent.

"I think that's a nice think to say about your husband."

Ruth previously threw shade at reality stars after the news of the This Morning shake up hit headlines.

She told Mirror Notebook: "We've put the work in. We didn't do a reality show and get an overnight job on the telly. We've come up through the ranks.

"Eamonn was only 19 when he started out. And he was doing the teatime news in Belfast during The Troubles.

"It was heavy stuff. And he's now got an OBE for services to broadcasting."

It comes after we broke the story Ruth and Eamonn had been axed from the long-running day time TV show.

TV bosses felt Alison and Dermot's natural chemistry had a "real warmth".

A telly insider told us of Alison and Dermot over the weekend: "They have real warmth. It's time for a change and they are perfect."

They added: "Eamonn is pretty furious and everyone feels for him and Ruth, they are well liked on the team, but sometimes tough decisions have to be made."
