Ruth Langsford's tears as she and hubby Eamonn win £34k for Alzheimer's Society

This Morning host Ruth Langsford broke down in tears after her incredible win alongside husband Eamonn Holmes on Saturday.

The presenting duo took part on Alan Carr's Epic Gameshow, a brand new show which revives nostalgic games such as Play Your Cards Right.

Other married couples who took part last night included Chris and Rosie Ramsey, Ore and Portia Oduba, and Martine McCutcheon and Jack McManus, reports The Mirror.

Ruth and Eamonn were the pair who made it to the end of the show after playing the card game.

"That will help so many people, thank you," said Ruth (ITV)

They ended up with a whopping £34,000 win for the Alzheimer's Society, and the emotion was evident on Ruth's face.

Eamonn walked on to the stage to comfort Ruth, tenderly putting his hands on her shoulders as he congratulated her.

Ruth burst into tears as confetti fell from the ceiling and the audience erupted into applause, giving her a standing ovation.

Even host Alan welled up and gave Ruth a huge hug as she said: "That will help so many people, thank you."

The charity is particularly close to Ruth's heart because her dad, Dennis, battled Alzheimer's for 17 years until his death in 2012.

Later on, Eamonn posted a tribute to Ruth on Instagram explaining why Ruth was so tearful.

He wrote: "She won £30k to help @alzheimerssoc on tonight's Play Your Cards Right.

"Believe me, she had reasons to shed those tears. Once again so proud of her for all she does in the fight against this cruel disease."

Each couple that got booted off the show still went home with £1,000 for their chosen charity.

* Alan Carr's Epic Gameshow continues on Saturday, June 6 at 7.30pm.
