Ruth Langsford 'really struggling' with injury ahead of This Morning return

Ruth Langsford has been battling an injury as she and husband Eamonn Holmes gear up to make their return to This Morning next week.

Last month, popular presenter Ruth revealed that she was stepping away from her role as Loose Women anchor to be at the helm of This Morning as Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby take their annual break for summer.

Ruth told her Loose Women colleagues: "I'm not leaving, 'cos normally when you do a best bits, you go 'thank you it's been lovely working with you," as Denise Welch said: "No, just a few weeks."

Ruth then added: "I'm going next door, so Eamonn and I will be on This Morning for about six weeks then I'll be back."

But now, with just days to go before Eamonn are due back on the This Morning sofa, Ruth has told her Instagram followers she'd been struggling with injury which had hampered her running progress.

She explained: "I haven’t run for over a week because I picked up a bit of muscle strain on my back, and I had a bit of physio for it and wanted it to rest."

"I’m going out to run two of week eight, another 26-minuter, and I feel really nervous because I haven’t run for so long!"

Returning to Instagram to give an update later, Ruth added: "Epic fail today. I just wasn’t feeling it. I said I was nervous, I just wasn’t feeling it. I was really struggling, couldn’t get my breathing right.

"I got to halfway and I was like, ‘Oh God, I can’t do it!’ Pushed on a bit more, I think I stopped quite soon after that, so I don’t know what I’ve done. 16 minutes, I don’t know.

"But I failed. And I just walked. I tried to walk briskly - bit disappointed, but it’s the first fail in eight weeks so I’m not going to tick this one, I might try again tomorrow or leave it a day."

Ruth's injury blow comes months after other half Eamonn revealed to his Twitter followers that he had been hospitalised with 'chronic pain' before then having to use a walking stick as he hosted This Morning.
