Ruth Langsford pulls out of hosting This Morning after falling ill

This Morning's Ruth Langsford has pulled out of hosting today's show after falling ill.

Announcing the news on social media, her husband Eamonn Holmes revealed she was feeling unwell and could not come into the studio.

It comes after prime minster Boris Johnson announced yesterday that people are being urged to self-isolate if they have symptoms of coronavirus, including a cough or temperature, in a bid to delay the spread of the disease.

Rochelle Humes will instead co-host Friday's instalment of the ITV daytime show alongside Eamonn, the Mirror Online reports.

Eamonn Holmes broke the news on social media (ITV)

"In 4 Ruth. The bad news is Ruth a bit under the weather today," he wrote.

"The good news is Rochelle and I will pair up again. A delightful friend and colleague and always a joy to be around."

Ruth was also forced to pull out of her QVC show on Thursday night.

The new measures outlined by the prime minster yesterday to try to combat the spread of coronavirus are part of precautionary measures aimed at 'flattening the curve' of the infection rate.

It's hoped this will help an already overstretched NHS cope with an influx of patients.

It also means that only those ill enough to be hospitalised with respiratory problems will now be tested for COVID-19.

Ruth and Eamonn present This Morning every Friday as part of their arrangement with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV
