Ruth Langsford misses This Morning after pulling out at last minute with 'mystery illness'

This Morning viewers were left concerned on Friday morning when it was revealed that host Ruth Langsford had pulled out of the show with a 'mystery illness'.

As the country becomes more and more worried about the coronavirus outbreak and the rapid rise in confirmed cases, Ruth's husband Eamonn Holmes confirmed Ruth would be replaced by Rochelle Humes in an Instagram post.

Sharing a picture of him and the former Saturdays singer, Eamonn wrote: "In 4 Ruth. The Bad News is Ruth a bit under the weather today.

"The Good news is Rochelle and I will pair up again. A delightful friend and colleague and Always a joy to be around."

And then kicking off the live This Morning show on ITV , Eamonn insisted Ruth didn't have coronavirus, telling viewers: "Now I should point out Mrs Holmes does not have a fever or a dry cough. There's many other things wrong with her but those are not two of them."

Rochelle laughed: "Don't start - she's not well."

He replied, joking: "She isn't well and hasn't been for a long time, but anyway."

Viewers were quick to voice their concerns for Ruth and wish her well.

One tweeted: "Oh no get well soon Ruth," and another posted: "Get better soon Ruth love watching you and Eamonn together sending you a big hug."
