Ruth Langsford 'laughs' at Boris Johnson testing positive for coronavirus

Ruth Langsford has been accused of laughing at Prime Minister Boris Johnson when he announced he had tested positive for coronavirus.

Ruth was presenting This Morning on Friday when the news of Boris’ diagnosis came in.

The presenter and her husband Eamonn Holmes, 60, stopped the show’s schedule to break the news to viewers.

Eamonn told viewers: "It is being reported, we'll get official confirmation on this very, very shortly, but there are reports emanating from Downing Street that the Prime Minister has tested positive for coronavirus."

But as Eamonn delivered the news, viewers seemed to think Ruth, also 60, was struggling to contain a giggle.

Ruth looked down at her phone and seemed to smirk, before saying "Sorry..." and letting out a little giggle.

Eagle-eyed viewers took to Twitter to point out the blunder.

One wrote: “Just me or does it look like Ruth is smirking?” while another said “Try not to act too happy that Boris has it eh Ruth?”

A third commented: “Ruth desperately trying to keep a serious face now. Too late Ruth.”

And a fourth noticed: “Was it just me that thought it looked like Ruth was laughing when she heard about #BorisJohnson?”

Prime Minister Boris Johnson revealed the news of his positive test results in a tweet after developing symptoms in the last 24 hours, but insisted he would continue to lead the government through the crisis.

Shortly after the announcement, Piers Morgan took to his social media to tell fans he’s “ready to serve” after Boris was dealt the devastating diagnosis, which will see him confined to part of his home without any social contact.
