Ruth Langsford hits out at 'hairy armed' shopper who broke social distancing

Ruth Langsford has slammed a 'hairy armed' shopper who broke social distancing and got too close to her in a supermarket.

Ruth and husband Eamonn Holmes are stepping in for usual This Morning hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby and started off Monday's show by discussing the topic that has caused any amount of controversy over the past few days - Boris Johnson's chief adviser Dominic Cummings' trip from London to Durham to see his family during lockdown.

Ruth said she was worried that seeing a Government official brazenly flout rules would lead to other Brits doing the same and she said she was already alarmed by some people who weren't adhering to them.

Referencing her own experience of people ignoring social distancing while out shopping, she said: "I was in the supermarket the other day with my gloves on, my mask on picking potatoes and suddenly this big hairy arm came across, literally a man leaning over me to get...and I just went 'excuse me!' and he looked at me as if he didn't know what I was talking about!

"And then I stopped because I didn't want to cause a scene. But how do you say 'could you please move away and observe this distancing?' It's quite hard."

Seeing the funny side, Eamonn quipped: "If you were the owner of that hairy arm, please identify yourself to us today."
