Ruth Langsford has hit out at Meghan Markle’s estranged father, Thomas Markle.
The L oose Women host, 61, suggested that the desperate dad was ‘emotionally blackmailing’ his royal daughter as he continues to give interviews where he blasts Meghan.
Following Thomas’ recent Good Morning Britain interview, Ruth said that she did feel sorry for him, but at the same time, she said she feels ‘awkward’ that he has continued to try gain the attention of Meghan after several failed attempts.
Lifting the lid on her thoughts on the broken father-daughter relationship, Ruth said: “If I’m absolutely honest, my initial thought was not again.
“Please, just stop now. I almost feel awkward watching him now. I think surely this is something you should be sorting out with your daughter privately.
“Whether she is responding to you or not, you’re making the whole thing very public and if the whole problem is that she doesn’t like you talking so publicly about whatever it is that is wrong with your relationship, then surely that is not the way to get that relationship back on track,” Ruth insisted.
She went on: “He could say all sorts of things about her, but none of us actually know what the problems are.”
During his explosive interview on Good Morning Britain, Thomas claimed that his daughter had 'pretty much disowned both sides of her family' and urged her to 'grow up'.
Mr Markle also claimed 'childish' Meghan 'changed' when she met Harry and said it was 'ridiculous' that he had been estranged from his daughter for nearly four years.
During the segment on GMB, Thomas said that doing interviews about Meghan is his only way of communicating with his estranged daughter.
“I've made it quite clear that until I hear from her, until she does speak to me, that I will continue to do this.
“I will do a show at least a month, if I can get it through, and eventually sooner or later she'll start talking to me. This is way too childish; this is kind of silly, it's time to talk with each other, we're family.”
And following Thomas’ revelation, Loose Women’s Ruth suggested that his behaviour towards Meghan feels like ‘emotional blackmail.’
“He’s basically saying if you don’t talk to me, I’ll continue to bash you in every interview I do. That’s emotional blackmail. It doesn’t feel right,” Ruth said.
And her opinion was met with much support from Loose Women viewers.
“Couldn’t agree more with Ruth on Thomas. He just looks like a desperate, embarrassing person doing this. As if she’s going to talk to him now,” one fan insisted.
“I feel so sorry for Meghan Markle. Imagine having a dad like that who would criticise you every chance he gets and makes money off your misfortune,” another fumed.
Meanwhile, someone else echoed: “It’s 100% emotional blackmail.”
