Ruth Langsford 'heartbroken' following death of her sister: 'I will miss her forever'

Ruth Langsford has been left "heartbroken" following the death of her sister, who she said she will miss "forever".

The This Morning and Loose Women presenter posted a picture of herself with her sister Julia on Twitter, telling fans she passed away after a long illness

Langsford wrote: "My lovely Sis Julia has sadly died after a very long illness. My heart is completely broken.

"She was the kindest and most gentle soul and I will miss her forever.

"As I am sure you will appreciate I need to take time to grieve with my family. Thank you for your understanding."

Langsford's followers offered support, including her former Strictly co-star Gemma Atkinson who tweeted: "I’m so sorry Ruth. Sending lots of love to you all."

Emmerdale actress Samantha Giles also paid tribute, posting: "So sorry to hear this Ruth, sending love to you and your family xx."

Her ITV co-star Melanie Sykes wrote: "Oh Ruth I’m so sorry x sending you so much love."

Support: Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford (Dave Benett)

Langsford has reportedly cancelled her upcoming work commitments and is not expected to present This Morning with her husband Eamonn Holmes on Friday morning.

A source told The Sun: "Ruth is utterly heartbroken and devastated to have found out her beloved sister Julia has died.

"Julia had been unwell for quite some time but this has shaken Ruth to the core.

"Eammon and son Jack are comforting her at home but Ruth is in deep shock. It’s absolutely heartbreaking for the whole family."
