Ruth Langsford happy about This Morning return due to 'different vibe'

Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes are back on the This Morning sofa.

The husband and wife TV favourites are back on the ITV show for seven weeks from today after they were replaced on the magazine series by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary at the end of last year.

The TV veterans were said to be "blindsided" at being replaced as well as "furious and upset" about the axe when it was revealed by The Mirror.

And speaking about their return, in order to cover Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby's slots as the duo enjoy time off over the summer holidays, Ruth has told that she is pleased to be back on the camera over the summer months due to the show having a "different vibe to it than the rest of the year."

"We’ve hosted so many This Morning summers now and we always look forward to it. They are always a lot of fun the summer weeks, it has a slightly different vibe to it than the rest of the year," Loose Women star Ruth - who shares son Jack with Eamonn - shared.

"People are often tuning in on their own holidays so we look forward to hearing where people are and they send us messages about what they are doing for the summer. We’ve been doing this since Jack was really little."

Eamonn also added that he is looking forward to being able to spend more time with his wife on the This Morning set.

When quizzed on if he was glad to be working with his spouse five times a week, the broadcaster said: "Well it’s the only time we really get to see each other properly, so yes! We both have very busy lives so it’s actually quite an unusual thing to spend so much time together. So yes, that’s got to be a good thing!"

It has been reported they have were warned not to speak out over the presenter shake-up that happened last year This Morning.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: "Ruth and Eamonn are obviously upset and feel humiliated about being put out to pasture.

"But they’ve been advised to keep schtum or risk losing more work.

"It could damage their brand if they lash out."

In January, Eamonn hit out at people who work in television and do not understand it as he does.

He told the Talking Success podcast: "Television is the easiest thing you’ll ever do in your life, made difficult by people who don’t understand it or who want to seem important because if they suddenly say, ‘No, no, no’ they’re important.

"It never ceases to amaze me how few interviewers take the time to talk to their guests.

"Some will say you don’t want to shatter the illusion or you want to keep the interview fresh."

He added: "Believe me, I can feign fresh."

Ruth also appeared to make a dig at replacement Alison's reality TV career that began on Big Brother, when she said in an interview with Mirror Notebook: "We've put the work in.

"We didn't do a reality show and get an overnight job on the telly. We've come up through the ranks."
